Wanawasi
Rahula Thero is the chief incumbent of Jathika Namal Uyana.
Thero has passed many acrimonious situations in his past time
without any safe places to stay. At the beginning of this
acrid life, he had been in a small hut on a "Mora" tree. This place is called as
"Mora Gaha Uda Maha Peraliya".
After the Sinhala kings day, the Jathika Namal Uyana was dedicated to the nation
on 28.03.1991 at first time and also protected this excellent place for future
generation by Wanawasi Rahula Thero. The history begins from the king
Devanmpiyathissa who ruled Sri Lanka a long time ago.
This historical place had been developed in
different ways within a few generations. At first human preserve has
been built up in this beautiful place, during the IVth Dappula
king’s period. Wanawasi Rahula Thero is the pioneer of the Jathika Namal Uyana
with regard to the developments.
It is an absolute truth that the only monk who has always tried to protect national interest is the one and only Wanawasi Rahula Thero through religious order. Ven. Wanawasi Rahula Thero founder of Jathika Namal Uyana has been awarded for credit of "Parisara Vibhushana", Credit of silk shall and credit of green award.
